Dairy Queen Shake Flavors: Full US Lineup (2026 Guide)

Shakes are one of the oldest items on the Dairy Queen menu, and the lineup stays refreshingly simple. Every flavor below is confirmed on official Dairy Queen sources — no guesswork, no invented entries. Whether you are deciding between a classic vanilla and a peanut butter shake, wondering what sizes are offered, or trying to figure out how a shake differs from a Blizzard or a MooLatté, this guide covers it. For the broader menu, see our Dairy Queen menu hub.

Shake flavors

Dairy Queen currently lists eight shake flavors on its official US nutrition and menu pages. Each one is made the same way: DQ soft serve blended with milk and the flavor ingredient, then finished with whipped topping. Here is the full confirmed lineup.

Shakes vs Blizzards vs MooLattés

DQ’s blended menu can be confusing because everything comes out of the same soft serve machine. The differences are real, though, and they come down to what goes in the cup:

Shake — a drink. Soft serve is blended with milk and a flavor syrup or topping until smooth and sipable, then crowned with whipped topping. It is meant to be sipped through a straw, not eaten with a spoon.

Blizzard — a thick, spoonable treat. Soft serve is blended with mix-ins such as cookie pieces, candy, or fruit, and served so thick that staff famously flip the cup upside down before handing it over. See the full lineup on our Dairy Queen Blizzard menu page.

MooLatté — a frozen blended coffee drink. Made with coffee, ice, and soft serve, it is DQ’s answer to the coffeehouse frozen coffee. The official US menu lists Mocha, Caramel, and Vanilla MooLatté flavors. DQ has also been expanding a related line called DQ Coffee Coolers, so the coffee side of the menu is worth watching.

In short: if it is sipable and coffee-free, it is a shake; if it needs a spoon and holds its shape upside down, it is a Blizzard; if it has coffee in it, it is a MooLatté.

Malts: how to make it a malt

Any DQ shake flavor can be ordered as a malt. “Make it a malt” means malted milk powder is blended in, giving the drink a slightly thicker body and that old-fashioned malted milk flavor. DQ’s own chocolate shake page puts it simply: if you want something a little thicker with a hint of malted milk taste, the malt is for you. The nutrition table lists the malt add-on separately, so it contributes a modest amount of extra calories on top of the base shake.

Limited-time shake flavors

Beyond the core lineup, DQ rotates seasonal and promotional shakes through its restaurants. These are confirmed on official DQ pages but are not permanent menu items:

Savannah Bananas Banana Split Shake — a partnership shake made with soft serve, fresh banana, and real milk, finished with strawberry topping, chocolatey shavings, and whipped topping. DQ promoted it through the 2026 Banana Ball season.

Fruity Pebbles Shake — the classic cereal blended into vanilla soft serve and real milk for a sweet, fruity flavor with a light crunch, topped with whipped topping.

Caramel Mocha Chip Shake — a coffee-tinged seasonal shake blending caramel, coffee, and chocolate cone coating with milk and vanilla soft serve, finished with whipped topping.

Holiday Nog Shake — a holiday-season shake with eggnog-inspired syrup blended into soft serve and milk, garnished with whipped topping and a dusting of nutmeg.

Limited-time shakes come and go with the seasons, so the best way to know what is pouring right now is the current menu on dairyqueen.com or the DQ app.

Frequently asked questions

How many shake flavors does Dairy Queen have in the US?
Eight flavors are confirmed on DQ’s official US nutrition and menu pages: Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Caramel, Hot Fudge, Peanut Butter, Banana, and the limited-time Maple Cookie Shake.

What is the difference between a DQ shake and a Blizzard?
A shake is a smooth, sipable drink made from soft serve blended with milk and flavoring. A Blizzard is a thick, spoonable treat made by blending soft serve with solid mix-ins like cookies or candy — thick enough to be served upside down.

Can any shake be made into a malt?
Yes. DQ lists every core shake flavor as “Shake or Malt” and publishes a separate “Make It A Malt” nutrition entry, confirming that malted milk powder can be added to any flavor.

What sizes do DQ shakes come in?
Small, Medium, and Large, according to the company’s official nutrition table. The limited-time Maple Cookie Shake is listed in Small and Medium.

Do DQ shakes contain real fruit?
DQ describes its strawberry shake as being blended with ripe strawberries. Other flavors are made with syrups and toppings rather than whole fruit. For exact ingredients and allergens, check the official nutrition pages linked below.
